Volunteer Sharing

What did you do for us, and what motivated you to do this for sharks and our NGO?

I’m Chloe, a volunteer working for the HK Shark Foundation. While reviewing the lesson plans on the shark ambassador webpage, I noticed that there wasn’t a lesson plan catered for grade 1-2 students. Therefore, I am happy to announce that I have just completed writing a brand new lesson plan for grade 1-2, which covers the species of sharks and the threats they face, through a video, an interactive group game and quiz. At the end, there is a simple research task for students to find out how they can help protect sharks.

It is not fair that sharks, and other endangered animals, are suffering and dying out because of our actions. They contribute to a healthy ecosystem and a beautiful earth filled with diversity. As these animals slowly go extinct, future generations will never be able to see and learn about them. Thus, we have a responsibility to protect these animals. Personally, sharks were an animal I cared a lot about, since seeing the atrocities and making a promise to myself that I would never drink shark fin soup many many years ago. When I came across the HK Shark Foundation, I knew it was the first step to a future career in saving endangered animals by spreading awareness, especially to kids as I worked on the lesson plans.

Looking ahead, I will keep working to refine the current lesson plans and add new ones, and possibly do other things as well. For now, please access and use the lesson plans above to contribute to this cause!
